Beer wort filtration with filter presses
In the beer production cycle, between the cooking and boiling phase, the wort must be filtered by separating the grain used for the mashing phase. To do this, filtering vats can be used; tanks with a bottom filtering plate, or filter presses. The special feature of filter presses is that they can speed up this operation and extract a greater quantity of starch from the grain. This technology uses filtering cloths mounted on plates in which the solid part separated by the cloth is accumulated. Depending on the volume to filter, there are presses measuring 40x40 cm, 50x50, 63x63, 80x80, etc. and the number of plates determines the machine’s filtering capacity.
