DE filters

Diatomaceous earth or diatomite is a commonly used filtering aid and is obtained by grinding organic siliceous rock. Depending on the grain size, the diatomaceous earth is more or less porous, so has a more or less effective filtering capability. Diatomaceous earth filters are used to clean up and polish wine through rough filtration. These filters are used after the harvest and before bottling. DE filters are classified in M² of filtering surface and can be manually or automatically drained.
